The kids are alright… In fact they’re more than alright! Yet another study has shown that children with lesbian parents are thriving, and that they grow up to be confident, successful and stable members of society.

A recent Williams Institute study found that pre-teen children raised by female same-sex parents have more “democratic attitudes about society” than their peers from heterosexual households.

In other words, they grow up to be nicer people!

32 children from female-couple parents in Holland were matched with 32 heterosexual parent families on age, gender, parental education level, and parental ethnicity. Children from lesbian households scored “significantly higher” on attitudes regarding “acting democratically, dealing with conflicts, and dealing with differences.”

The study concluded: “Overall, the findings from this study suggest that growing up in a nontraditional family may be associated with a greater appreciation of diversity and the development of good citizenship.”

The findings add to a growing body of positive research about same-sex parenting. Earlier this year, a study by the University of Melbourne found that children brought up by same-sex couples are happier, healthier and more sociable than those of straight parents.

Last year, another study conducted for the Williams Institute found that teen children from lesbian familes excel in school and have a more happy and open-minded approach to life.

In 2010 a US study found that children raised by two mothers have higher self-esteem, are more successful academically, and are less likely to have behavioural problems than kids who have been brought up by two heterosexual parents.
