The UK All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on Global LGBT Rights launched a major new report into breaches of LGBT rights worldwide at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer LLP yesterday.

APPG provide a forum for parliamentarians and organisations across the public, private and third sectors to work together to champion LGBT rights and push back against abuse and discrimination.

The group was set up in June 2015 by MPs and Peers across the political parties and is the first of its kind in the UK Parliament.

The group has taken on board recommendations made by a submission from Stephen Donnan from LoveProudly in respect to LGBT rights in Northern Ireland.

“The current discrepancies in the political and legal settlements for LGBT people across the devolved administrations need to be addressed, particularly in respect to Northern Ireland and British Overseas Territories and Crown Dependencies.”

The report recommends a series of measures that the UK government, businesses and NGOs can take to enhance LGBT rights worldwide. You can read the full report here.
